6 Things Not To Do After A Meal

women-drink-water-after-food

Avoid doing following things after having a meal in order to have good digestion.

1) Don’t sleep:

Sleeping after having a meal causes indigestion which will thus lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

2) Don’t drink cold water during or after meals.

When we drink cold water, our metabolism speeds up. This is because more energy is used to heat up the cold water to body temperature. This diverts energy that should be used for digestion. When you are eating, you want all your energy directed at breaking down food so your body can easily assimilate the nutrients and eliminate waste.

3) Don’t drink liquids during or after meals.

Drinking liquids such as water, juice, tea etc during your meal dilutes your naturally occurring digestive enzymes and stomach acids which makes the food harder to breakdown. Thus causing digestive problems.

4) Don’t take a bath.

Bathing after having a meal increases the flow of blood to our hands, legs and body. As a result, the amount of blood around the stomach decreases. This weakens the digestive system in our stomach.

5) Don’t eat fruits.

When you eat your fruits during or after meals, the fruit is stuck in the stomach along with the contents of the meals and cannot reach the intestines in time. Lying there they get spoilt and spoil the remaining food in the stomach too. Therefore, it is recommended that one should eat a fruit at least one hour after eating a meal or before your meal and preferably in the morning with empty stomach.

6) Don’t smoke

Many studies have proven that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes, thus chances of cancer becomes more higher.

7 Natural Ways to Prevent Aging Skin

1) Lower your stress levels.

Study shows that stress weakens the integrity of your skin’s collagen, making it saggy and wrinkly. To help reduce your stress, do yoga and meditation regularly.

2) Reduce salt from your diet.
Sodium Chloride draws water out of your cells, making them flabby and promoting wrinkles.

3) Get a little sunshine.
Giving your skin a little dose of the sun’s rays each day can actually keep it younger. That’s because you’ll soak up some vitamin D, and this vitamin helps keep your skin healthy.

4) Stand on your head.
If you stand on your head for a few minutes every day, you’ll dramatically increase the circulation to your face, bathing your skin in nutrients and getting rid of toxins that can make you wrinkly. If standing on your head is too hard, here’s an alternative: Just lie on your bed with your head hanging over the edge.

5) Reduce fried foods from diet.
We have all heard the warnings that fried foods cause heart disease, high cholesterol, and obesity, but what about its effect on our skin? Fried food are fully oxidized and saturated fat, which is the worst kind of thing you can take into your body. It could impede the ideal structure of the skin. Research shows that consistent consumption of fried foods causes damage to the cellular structure of the dermis and epidermis, and this leads to sallow, aged skin and more cystic acne.

6) Cut sugar and processed food from diet
The foods we eat can have a major impact on how we look. Highly processed junk foods made with additives and preservatives such as white bread, biscuits, chips, french fries, drinks, and candies spike your blood sugar levels. This causes your hormones to stimulate excessive oil production, thus clogging pores and aging the skin

7) Reduce coffee and black tea.
Not only does caffeine dry out your skin, but caffeine increases your production of cortisol (stress hormone) . More cortisol accelerates the aging process, thus thinning your skin. However, some caffeine-laden drinks, like coffee and black tea are loaded with antioxidants that can help defend skin from damage, particularly from the sun. But one should drink caffeine in moderation to avoid its harmful effects on our skin, brain and overall health. Make sure to drink plenty of water to counteract the dehydrating effects of caffeinated drinks.

Why Is Dark Chocolate Good for You?

Why Is Dark Chocolate Good for You?

For years, all chocolate was cast off as junk food. We wonder if chocolate is harmful to the teeth. Does it contain too much cholesterol? Will it lead to obesity? The truth is that “sugar” is the major cause of all health problems.

Dark chocolate, made from the cocoa bean, is rich in a class of plant nutrients called flavonoids, flavonoid is a powerful source of antioxidants. It helps lower blood pressure, boost blood flow, and reduce blood clots. Dark chocolate may also protect against diabetes. Antioxidants in dark chocolate may help the body use its insulin more efficiently to control blood sugar, flavonoid boost blood flow to brain, which could aid alertness and cognition.

Along with antioxidants, dark chocolate also contains healthy fats. Cocoa butter, the fatty part of cocoa beans, is the unsaturated type that is beneficial for the heart and cholesterol levels. It has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol (the bad kind) by up to 10%. Daily consumption of dark chocolate could prevent cardiovascular disease. Moreover, it increases endorphins, which gives a feeling of pleasure. It contains serotonin, which acts as an anti-depressant.

Dark Chocolate is also very nutritious. Quality dark chocolate is rich in Fiber, Iron, Magnesium, Copper, Manganese and is loaded with minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, zinc and selenium.Dark chocolate is affirmed as brain booster too. High-flavanol cocoa improves blood flow to the brain. The study suggests that the flavanol found in dark chocolate may improve the function of brain and even slow the effects of aging by increasing circulation.

Be aware that a lot of the chocolate in the market is crap. Even all dark chocolates are not good for you. Sugar is often the first ingredient listed on many dark chocolate bars that can dilute the benefits of cacao. (Ingredients are listed in descending order, this means that the first ingredient listed contributes the largest amount and the last ingredient listed contributes the least)

Therefore, to get all of the health benefits from dark chocolate is by choosing the right kind. Dark chocolate with at least 70% or above OR that has “cocoa solids” listed first should be bought.
